Sometimes photography is my biggest challenge, and the trickiest to photograph is jewelry made with clear crystals or clear glass beads. I make these beautiful pieces, take dozens of photos, but when I load them onto my computer, I'm disappointed with the results. The clear beads fade right into the background and look boring. Boohoo.
Sometimes I give up and put these wonderful pieces back into storage to show at a craft fair. Other times, I go ahead and list them in my shop, hoping people will appreciate them despite the mediocre photos.
And then there are days when I say, "Try again. Take a few dozen more pictures of that baby. Don't give up!" Today is a bright, sunny day, so I set up my light box to filter the sunlight and prevent glare and shadows, and started snapping away on my phone. Yes, I use my iPhone. O.M.G! This time I'm happy! Granted, they're nowhere near perfect, but the photos show the beauty and sparkle of the crystals. Yippee!!!
If anyone reading this has photographic learning experiences to share, please let me know. I'd love to hear from you!
